The countdown is officially underway for Looking AHEAD 2017 and we couldn’t be more excited! As the momentum builds for our 4th annual technology summit, so does the anticipation for the day’s impressive agenda of speakers, featuring top-level IT professionals from some of the nation’s leading organizations.
Oh, and did we mention our keynote speaker, New York Times bestselling author, Nicholas Carr?!
Here’s a sneak peak of this year’s featured presenters:
9:00 – 9:45 a.m. | Keynote: The Big Switch – Looking at the Future of Cloud Computing
Kick off the day with, thought-leader and acclaimed author Nick Carr, author of the influential book, The Big Switch: Rewiring the World, from Edison to Google (2008), which the Financial Times calls “the best read so far about the significance of the shift to cloud computing.” His provocative and prophetic book is a riveting examination of how a revolution in computing – the cloud – is reshaping business, society, and culture.
In his keynote, Carr will discuss the impact of technology on our culture, surveying where we’ve come in the ten years since his book, and examine where the cloud will take us, as businesses and as a society, in the years ahead.
11:25 – 11:45 a.m. | New Technology, Same Culture – Inspire your Talent to become Change Agents
Michael Shanko, Sr. Director, IT Operations, Silicon Valley Bank, will be discussing his organization’s cloud journey, comparing the challenges of evolving a cloud operations team across two organizations with very different makeups.
Shanko provides leadership and direction for SVB’s global IT Services, including Global Infrastructure, Core Banking Systems, and Critical Application Support. As SVB scales to deliver highly innovative banking solutions, they are focusing on organizational design, creating a culture of operational excellence, and building flexible and agile delivery of solutions.
11:45 – 12:00 p.m. | What Hundreds of Companies Show us about how to Create a DevOps Culture
Adam Jacob, CTO and founder of Chef Software, will discuss what a DevOps Culture is, highlighting important concepts through examples and stories. He’ll preview what it takes to build empowered organizations, design delightful products, and run effective operations.

- Trey Tharp, Sr. Managing Architect, Allstate Insurance
Rich Mozack of Hub International and Trey Tharp of Allstate will participate in a moderated discussion of their respective organizations’ cloud adoption journeys, including lessons learned and what they are focusing on next.
Hub International, a leading global insurance brokerage, recently launched a new brand and customer web experience, changing the way clients and potential customers digitally engage with the organization.
Trey Tharp is leading Allstate’s IT journey, including a massive evolutionary change in nearly all aspects of the organization’s people, processes, and technology, ranging from IaaS, to PaaS, to SaaS ⎼ and everything in between!
2:00 – 2:20 p.m. | Connecting Applications to Outcomes with Cisco’s AppDynamics
Bill Hineline, Director of Application Performance Management at United Airlines, will reflect on their drivers for evaluating and deploying Cisco’s AppDynamics product, and the improvements their organization has realized.
