10 years ago, there was no iPhone, there was no cloud, and there was no AHEAD. The last one being the most personal to me. 🙂
AHEAD has changed my life. It has been the best education I could have asked for with the number one lesson being it is all about the people.
At the beginning, it was me and shortly after starting the company, I was joined by a friend and previous colleague, Noah Silvers. I remember sitting in a Regus office with Noah talking about what we were going to do in the next day or week, frankly having trouble seeing much beyond that.
As weeks turned into months and months turned into years, the company continued to assemble a larger and larger team with one focus: hire the best people we can. In the two years following the creation of AHEAD, we hired several people that are still with us and still contributing to our story: Tim Frank, Brian Dempsey, Sean Dailey, Scott Reder, Bob Sereno, Sachin Mewade, and Ryan Hileman, to name a few of the early ones.
We all believed we could create something different; create something unique that didn’t exist before. What that something is has changed and will continue to change, but the belief in and of itself is what really makes us unique. We are never satisfied with where we are or what we are doing. There is no finish line. There is only a purpose to continue to learn, grow, and win.
This purpose seems simple, but it takes work, especially as we continue to grow. We have to hold each other accountable to maintain it. If we don’t, we will lose our edge. We will lose what makes and keeps us special. I believe AHEAD hasn’t only changed my life, it has changed many others. It has pushed us all to do more than we thought we could and then expect more. Some may call this a disease, but we call it a culture. A culture defined by our three principles: Collaborate, Innovate and Drive. Simply put, we have to work well with others, do things differently, and get things done.
This is inspiring to me, but that really doesn’t matter if we don’t have clients that find value in it. We are fortunate enough to not only have clients, but clients that treat us like a partner. Thank you to everyone that has trusted us enough to work with us at the beginning and today. Thank you for holding us accountable and helping us to get better.
I look just as forward to the next 10 years as I did the last. The market will continue to change and we will continue to change with it, constantly looking to add value to each other and to our clients.
